This survey, which is aimed at the worldwide UAS/RPAS/Drone operator community is already available in English, French, German, Italian & Spanish and now, also in Chinese. This survey is an opportunity to make it possible for all drone operators to assure that their specific applications are taken into account.

This Survey on Drone Operations addresses the following:

1- The market sectors where drone flight operations are currently taking place;

2- The mission purposes of the flight operations [Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) & Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)] currently taking place in compliance with the applicable national rules or regulations;

3- The market sectors where Very Low Level (VLL) (below 500 feet AGL) BVLOS flight operations are anticipated in the near term (1 to 2 years).

4- The mission purposes of the VLL (below 500 feet AGL) BVLOS flight operations that are anticipated to take place in the near term (1 to 2 years).

5- The market sectors where BVLOS flight operations (below & above 500 feet AGL) are envisaged to take place in the medium term (2-5 years);

6- The mission purposes of the BVLOS flight operations (below & above 500 feet AGL) that are envisaged to take place in the medium term (2-5 years).

Note: On 30 Sept. 2017, 1004 organisations from 65 countries had already contributed.

The international drone operator community is invited to contribute to this survey.

This survey is now available online in 8 languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Spanish.

In the context of this survey, a drone operator is a company or organization (governmental or non-governmental entity) conducting, or planning to conduct, commercial or non-commercial flight operations with drones (incl. corporate flights for a company’s own benefit).

This survey distinguishes 2 categories & 7 sub-categories of operators:

Corporate Entities:

–   Operator (e.g. commercial air transport of freight or persons, aerial work/specialized operations – including “corporate flights”, demonstrations flights at airshows & races);

–  Manufacturer & Operator (e.g. the flight operations indicated under «Operator», test & experimental missions, demonstrations, ferrying/positioning flights);

–   Flight School (duo, solo or check flight missions);

–   Research Organisation (e.g. test & experimental flight missions)

Non-Corporate Entities:

–   Governmental/Public Entity (Not State flights) – Operator (e.g.: police, customs, border guards, civil protection, coast guard, meteorological service, rescue service, post disaster operations);

–  Governmental/Public Entity – Non-commercial research organisation (e.g. test & experimental flight missions);

–   Academia / University – Research & Educational (e.g. test/experimental flight missions; training/instruction)

 

The survey submission deadline is 15 December 2017

The results of this survey will be published mid-January 2018.
