Commercial Drone Week Features Drone World Expo as Flagship Event

JD Events, producers of Drone World Expo, has announced the launch of Commercial Drone Week, which will include meetings, conferences, networking, tours, demos and receptions to continue face to face conversations around its flagship event.

The first annual Commercial Drone Week already has a dozen concurrent events planned, ranging from an awards program presented by the Commercial Drone Alliance to the first in-person board meeting for the Global UTM Association and a special workshop on sUAS for inspections, presented by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.

“There is tremendous value to Drone World Expo being located in the heart of Silicon Valley where attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and partners can catch up with colleagues and conduct business at the Expo and around it,” said Joelle M. Coretti, Vice President and Event Director, Drone World Expo.  “We are working with key partners, exhibitors and media to develop strategically timed events throughout the week surrounding our flagship event to ensure that attendees get the most out of their time in Silicon Valley.  Commercial Drone Week is sure to become the largest annual gathering of the commercial drone industry in North America.”

Events that have already been announced include:

  • American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Innovative Drone Exploration and Application (IDEA) Competition Winners’ Presentation
  • Commercial Drone Alliance Innovators of the Year Awards
  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide Workshop – sUAS for Inspections

In 2016, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo recognized Drone World Expo for its innovative approach to addressing business and environmental challenges with drones and welcomed the event to the Capital of Silicon Valley.   Commercial Drone Week showcases numerous events happening around Drone World Expo to give exhibitors and attendees even more opportunities to learn from each other while they are in town by attending focused meetings, conducting business transactions and networking with industry experts.

“We’re very excited for the opportunity to hold our first in-person board meeting during Commercial Drone Week this fall so that members can take advantage of all that Drone World Expo has to offer,” said Benoit Curdy, Secretary General of the Global UTM Association.

“The Commercial Drone Alliance always likes to hold events around DWE since so many stakeholders will already be in town for the event,” said Gretchen West, Senior Advisor, Hogan Lovells and Co-Executive Director of the Commercial Drone Alliance.  “It’s a great and convenient way to meet face to face with our members and connect with so many new end users as well.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone during Commercial Drone Week.”

Registration is now open for Drone World Expo 2017.

From October 3-4 (pre-conference workshops October 2), the 3rd annual Drone World Expo will once again gather thousands of thought leaders in the Capital of Silicon Valley and will feature a robust exhibit floor, visionary keynote speakers, timely and industry-leading educational programs, and networking events.
