Estonia’s Threod Systems Wins Tenders in 3 Countries

theorodEstonian defense contractor Threod Systems has won internal security tenders in Greece, Cyprus and Kazakhstan, and plans to start offering its products in Ukraine and Indonesia in the future, according to Eesti Paevaleht reports writes LETA/BNS.

Unmanned aerial vehicles of Threod Systems will mainly be used by the three countries’ rescue services. The company sold the first drones to its Greek partner last year but will deliver a larger batch of UAVs for Greek firefighters next week, CEO Villiko Nurmoja told the paper.

Threod Systems entered the Greek market, as well as Cyprus and Kazakhstan, by winning a public procurement tender. The Cypriot contract is yet to be signed, but Kazakhstan is initially purchasing two multiple rotor drones and if the goods are found suitable a total of 15 drones will be bought for the police and border guard.

The company that made a breakthrough on external markets with the three tenders seeks to expand further. One direction is Ukraine where the search for clients has advanced so well that Threod Systems’ former CEOSten Reimann now focuses solely on Ukraine and a separate legal entity has been established in the country for successful contracting, the newspaper notes.

According to Nurmoja, a potential market in the longer run is Indonesia. The company is also interested in the Estonian defense forces’ UAV tender.
