An investigation is underway to try and find the reason that caused a Heron – 1 made by Israel aerospace industries (IAI) to crash on Tuesday morning near Um el Fahem.
Ten people were taken to a hospital after suffering from the smoke that was caused by the fire ignited by the crash.
The Heron-1 crashed during a test flight operated by IAI .
The Heron-1 has been operational in the Israeli air force and other air forces for years , but has been upgraded continuously.
The upgrades are related to the UAV’s systems and the payloads carried by it.
IAI in cooperation with other organizations are investigating the crash.
[coincidently, a Heron TP also crashed on a test flight in January 2012 -Ed.]
