The first round of Iran Drone Prix with participation of over 150 students across the country will be held on 27-29 July. This is the first scientific competition among drones in Iran and will be held in two categories of ‘Indoor’ and ‘Speed’ this year.
Encouraging Iranian engineers, particularly students of electrical engineering, to be more active in the field, creating a link between the industry and universities, as well as to introduce Iran’s robotic technology to the international community are among the objectives of Iran Drone Prix. The event will be held annually in Iran and feature more leagues with each edition.
Seyed Morteza Jaberifard, director of the 1st Iran Drone Prix, explained about the competition, “participants in the ‘speed’ category must guide their unmanned drones with indirect vision control and make it to the finish line sooner than other competitors.”
“In the ‘Indoor’ contest, participating teams must haul important objects from the inside of the building and under special conditions such as high temperature or dense smoke, and successfully land the objects on a moving platform,” he added.
Jaberifard highlighted the significant role of drones in future industries, adding “at the moment, drones are used in defense operations, identification, crisis management, relief, monitoring borders, power plants, energy transmission lines and other important areas in the country.”
The First Iran Drone Prix organized by Malek-Ashtar University of Technology in collaboration with Scientific Association of Electrical Engineering, will be held on 27-29 July, 2016, in Tehran.
