For the first time, UAS associations from the entire Nordic Region have joined forces for 3 drone days of demos, exhibition and a conference program covering every inch of the industry. The main reason is to showcase the drone friendly Northern market towards visionary global stakeholders and to create an industry focused event.

Single Nordic market platform

In recent years, International UAS organizations have increased their focus on doing business in the Nordic region of Europe and for good reason too. According to Forbe’s 2015 ranking of the best countries to do business in, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland all can be found in the top-10.

Combined with the fact that small and medium-sized UAS companies are mushroom expanding throughout the region these years, you have a recipe for success. This is also one of the reasons why big corporations such as Boeing, Delair-Tech, Schiebel and Italdron have found their way to this year’s Nordic UAS Event.

Anders Martinsen, head of UAS Norway says: “We find it all important to create a Nordic arena with harmonized ruled, a global outlook and an easily accessible hub for international organizations to gather the best Nordic drone community leads”. He is backed by Michael Larsen from UAS Denmark who says: “The response really has been remarkable up to the event with great interest from both Nordic and international visitors and exhibitors”.

Focus on networks and industry intelligence

The idea about a joint venture between the four UAS Associations of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland came about last year during UAS Norway’s annual conference.

“As we have similar business environments and approaches to attracting new industries, it seemed only natural to team up and create a central business conference dedicated to the UAS industry” Kim Mortensen, UAS Sweden says.

UAS Denmark provided a well-proven basis for the event with a demonstration day and an exhibition combined with a conference during the two last days.

But things had to be stepped up a bit, so besides having the biggest amount of exhibitors at any drone expo of the region yet and free entrance to the robotics exhibition RoboBusiness Europe just next door, company profiles from all parts of the World have agreed to partake in the conference.

Michael Larsen says: “We have made arrangements with Satou Akira from YAMAHA covering Japanese agricultural drones and Brandon Suarez from General Atomics discussing the progress of Detect and Avoid standards in the USA”.

In fact, more than 50 speakers will cover such subjects as the use of UAV´s in the Arctic, cases from the Nordic countries, panel discussions about BVLOS, global growth and legislation, entrance to the Nordic market, technological development and specialized commercial usages of drones. “We’re confident that we have subjects that suits every visitor’s taste and a programme, which is both packed and well-proven” Larsen says.

Nordic UAS Event 2016 is the reincarnation of a similar event, which has taken place since 2013. Michael Larsen concludes: “We have brought UAS visitors and exhibitors together before, and are confident that the concept of combining drone demonstrations and an exhibition with a packed conference program really is the way forward” he says: “This year, it will be the same but bigger, better and above all the first Nordic UAS Event.
