Drone Assistance for Rooftop Rescue

Linciolnshire

Two teenage boys are being questioned after they had to be rescued from a rooftop in Gainsborough, England on Bank Holiday Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Market Place at 9.15am after a shop manager reported hearing persons on the roof.

Officers were assisted by Kurnia Aerial Photography, who used a drone to identify where the youths were on the roof.

Chief Inspector Phil Vickers said: “We are immensely grateful to Michael, Kurnia’s director, for his assistance. The rooftops in the town centre are a maze but the images captured by the drone allowed us to locate the teenagers and meant that officers did not have to put themselves at risk by accessing the roof”.

The teenagers were brought safely to the ground around two hours later with the help of the Aerial Ladder Platform from Lincoln South.
