Unmanned Dominator XP Makes Mexican debut

DominatorAeronautics Defense Systems‘ Dominator XP unmanned air vehicle has completed a successful first series of flights in Mexico.

Based on Diamond Aircraft’s DA42 general aviation aircraft, the medium-altitude, long-endurance surveillance system was sold to the Mexican government via local marketing company Balam Security.

Speaking on 29 September, Aeronautics chief executive Amos Mathan said the Dominator is the highlight of the company’s development activities conducted over recent years.

“Taking a civil aircraft and transforming it into a UAS allows the operators to enjoy all the benefits of a large UAS at an affordable price and with exceptional reliability,” he says. “This is the first contract in which we export the UAS instead of renting it to the customer, and I have no doubt that after the implementation of the system in Mexico, we will soon market the Dominator to other countries.”
