RPAS Regulation is Published in Italy

ENA_LogoAs it was anticipated about a month ago, during the workshop organized by ASSORPAS, the Italian Association for Light RPAS, ENAC, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, has now published the “Regolamento per Aeromobili a Pilotaggio Remoto” .

The RPAS sector is now regulated in Italy, and this new regulation, which is in line with the European RPAS vision, is expected to have a very positive influence on the growth of the Italian RPAS market (aeronautical products & services).

Piero Refolo, CEO of Aermatica, a company that was one of the Italian pioneers in the development of RPAS, is enthusiastic regarding the impact that the publication of the regulations will have on the RPAS industry. “At Aermatica we have waited for this moment for years; it can even be said that we have prepared for it during several years of work. Our vision has always been to believe in the opportunity of a regulated market.

Over the years, Aermatica has dedicated a major part of its investments in research and development to complement the high-end performance of its RPAS with features that would ensure safe operation, identifying and implementing system requirements based on the valuable advice of the ENAC technicians with whom we have shared some of the most critical phases of the project.”

“The benefits for RPAS operators wanting to work professionally will be relevant.” adds Refolo. “While in recent years, RPAS regulation was considered as something rather abstract, we have had a very strong feeling over the last months that the entire community had a growing awareness that something was changing.”

In preparation for this moment, Aermatica has accelerated the production of its Anteos RPAS by moving to its new headquarter in Gironico (at Technopolo, in the province of Como), and has strenghtened its sales organisation.
