Third MIDCAS Workshop to be Held in Brussels on 23 February 2012

The third MIDCAS Workshop will be held in the Eurocontrol Offices in Brussels (Belgium) on Thursday 23 February 2012.

The MIDCAS project is a major European initiative to progress towards integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in non-segregated airspace. It addresses the key issue of the UAS Traffic Encounter and Midair Collision Avoidance Function. The project is on a European level, funded by France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden under the management of the European Defence Agency

The two first MIDCAS workshops, held on 16 February 2010 and 5 October 2010, have been a real opportunity for valuable discussions about the scope of the project, its organization and the way it intends to support the related standardization effort. Possible different interpretation of explicit or implicit requirements has also been discussed. Previous Workshop reports can be downloaded here.

The Workshop will start at 9:00 and finish at 17:00. The agenda will concentrate on the preliminary design of the UAS collision avoidance function and the related operational capabilities, safety, performance and interoperability aspects. Time will be allocated to open discussion sessions and attendees are invited to submit their questions, if any, together with their registration to help to prepare for an efficient workshop. Read ahead material will be made available on www.midcas.org one week before the event.

This workshop is kindly hosted by EUROCONTROL in its Brussels headquarters EUROPA conference room.

Registration is now open. Attendees are requested to contact the MIDCAS consortium before Friday 27 January 2012)by email to Marion Maestroni (marion.maestroni@sagem.com), cc to Alain Vallée (alain.vallée@sagem.com)
