US Army Issues RFI for Heavy Fuel or AVGAS Engine for AAI Shadow

The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) Redstone Arsenal, AL, on behalf of the US Army, desires to obtain information to serve as a market survey heavy fuel or AVGAS engine candidates that would fit the Shadow UAS with little or no modification to the airframe or engine.

It is desired to identify engines that are fully developed, extensively tested, and have initial evaluation units ready for possible procurement. The engines are desired to be low weight, very reliable, have great fuel economy, and low per unit or development cost. The intent is to identify suitable shaft engines in the power range of 38hp to 60hp. Interested and capable sources are asked to submit a white paper containing a description of the above areas of interest. Information on available, emerging, or required technologies and how these technologies could be applied to this project should also be included.
