Announcing ICAUV 2012

The second edition of International Conference on Autonomous Unmanned Systems (ICAUV 2012) is totally dedicated to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and it aims to bring the Indian and international UAS communities together. The following points have motivated its organisation:

  • India has recognized the force multiplying possibilities that UAS offer and the important role they will play in the future.
  • The multiple current, as well as upcoming requirements for fixed & rotary wing UAS of various classes with the Indian Air Force, Army and Navy.
  • Creation of a platform to share and deliberate the operational experience gained & lessons learned by the major military powers currently deploying UAS.
  • The requirement for India to forge strategic alliances with non-Indian industrial entities to give it access to the required technologies.
  • The ongoing international activities related to UAS certification & air traffic management, and the necessity for India to understand and actively participate in these activities.
  • The budding Indian industrial UAS base and the role it could play within the context of the projected international market growth for UAS.
  • Presentation of ADE’s and the Indian Army’s, Navy’s & Air Force’s capabilities in the field of UAS to the international UAS community.
  • Creation of a platform to expand knowledge through interaction and cooperation.
  • Desire to emphasize India’s leadership in the field of UAS in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Supply information on UAS-related technology, applications and issues to the Indian UAS community.

ICAUV 2012 is to be seen in the light of UVS International’s Global Access Initiative.

Conference Topics at this Multi-Track Event

Plenary Sessions:         UAS regulatory issues (standards, certification issues, ATM, and the requirement for civil/military coordination).

Technical Sessions:      UAS technologies (aerodynamics, structures, controls, propulsion & systems), UAS operational experiences & lessons learned, UAS programme updates, new products (systems & sub-systems), emerging technologies, ongoing R&D.

Conference & Venue

ICAUV 2012 is India’s largest UAS event (55 speakers), and the only conference & exhibition in India totally dedicated to UAS; it is organised by the Indian Aeronautical Defence Establishment (ADE) and is fully supported by Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and theIndian Ministry of Defence.

ICAUV 2012 is a residential conference with optimal networking possibilities, as most conference participants are lodged at the event venue (Eagleton Golf Resort – www.eagletonindia.com – 30 kms outside of Bangalore); hotel capacity: 350 persons.

Organizer – Aeronautical Development Establishment

Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) is an ISO 9001:2008 certified Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) lab. Its mission is to design develop aeronautical systems to meet the current and future needs of the Services and progressively enhance the technological infrastructure and capabilities.

The vision of ADE is to be a centre for the development of state-of-the-art aeronautical systems for the Indian services. The major thrust areas are in design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and systems for combat aircraft, flight simulation, air weapon integration and flight R & D. The core competence of ADE are : system design, aerodynamic configuration, structural design, including composites, flight controls, avionics, propulsion and system integration, airborne sensor stabilization, aerial image exploitation, flight testing & evaluation, fly-by-wire flight control systems, cockpit displays, air weapons integration, pilot training simulators and simulation to support aircraft design and aeronautical research.

International Promotion – UVS International

After the successful collaboration between ADE and UVS International relative to the organization of the ICAUV 2009 conference and exhibition, the association has again been invited by ADE to support ICAUV 2012 by:

  • Contributing to the establishment of the conference programme;
  • International promotion of the event (outside of India);
  • International sales to entities residing outside of India (conference) or having their registered offices & principal R&D activities outside India (exhibit, sponsorship) through Blyenburgh Co, France.

ICAUV 2009 Statistics
