European Commission UAS Panel’s 2nd Workshop

This event took place at Eurocontrol Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium on 13 & 14 September 2011 and was attended by 212 persons (small & large industry: 42; military: 28; regulators: 69; research organization: 18; users: 35; various: 10). The organizations present included: European Aviation Safety Agency, ECAC, European Commission, European Defence Agency, ICAO, and NATO. The regulators came from 22 countries, namely: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Rep., Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK.

At the conclusion of the first day, just prior to the cocktail hosted by Eurocontrol, GreenX gave a flight demonstration on the Eurocontrol premises of the flapping wing UAS it has developed for bird control (decreasing bird strike risk at airports).

The presentations given at this workshop can be found on www.uvs-info.com (see European Commission UAS Panel tab in the main menu bar). The conclusions & recommendations of the workshop will be posted as soon as they have been approved by the European Commission and received from Eurocontrol.

Eurocontrol and Luc Tytgat, the workshop’s chef-de-file, are congratulated with having organized a very successful workshop, which substantially & significantly contributed to the objectives of the European Commission UAS Panel.
