Unmanned Aircraft Crash in Hebei Province, North China

News is just leaking out that on August 22, a Chinese secret unmanned aircraft crashed in Hebei Province, North China. The local police force blockaded the crash zone, but some local villagers took this photo before the arrival of law-enforcement personnel. The accurate crash position is in the hill area of Huining Town, Xingtai County. The crashed UAS is very similar to the U.S. RQ-4 Global Hawk. Some resources report that this aircraft is known as “Tianchi” (天翅) or BZK-005 and produced by CAC (Chengdu Aircraft Corporation).

  1. “Tianchi” is not the same as BZK-005. Tianchi is a turbine powered MALE with a V tail. BZK-005 is a twin tail boom configuration with a pusher prop. The airframe in the villagers picture is a BZK-005
